17th Edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations BS 7671:2008

In January 2008, the 17th Edition of the Requirements for Electrical Installations, IEE Wiring Regulations were published and will come into effect on 1st July 2008. BS 7671 is the current national standard for most electrical installations undertaken within the UK. Installation designed before 1st July 2008 may continue to be installed and certified in accordance with the 16th Edition. All new designs commenced after 1st July 2008 will need to be carried out in accordance with the new Standard. The ECA Guide can also be purchased via Amazon, the publisher Wiley and all good bookstores (ECA member discounts are not available from these outlets). Special offers for members Each member receives a free 17th Edition pack containing both the IEE Wiring Regulations and a copy of the ECA Guide. In order to best ensure that all information is up-to-date and consistent, it has been agreed that the Electrical Safety Council (ESC) will host the forum on their website which can be accessed by clicking on the link below. The forum consists of a number of frequently asked questions divided into sections that will broaden in number as new questions are raised and discussed.
