Major Projects Agreement

The Major Projects Agreement (MPA) is a employment framework which has been designed to improve performance on the largest mechanical and electrical projects.

The MPA helped to deliver on time and on budget the BAA Terminal 5 Programme at Heathrow, which was the largest construction project in the UK. A recent independent study of the MPA at Terminal 5 showed that the MPA had a positive impact on Performance and Productivity, Integrated Team Working and Working Practices.

Discussions are now taking place to incorporate the MPA into other major mechanical and electrical projects, including the infrastructure for the 2012 London Olympic Games, major new hospital projects and large-scale city regeneration programmes.

The signatories to the MPA are:

  •  AMICUS
  • The Association of Plumbing and Heating Contractors (APHC)
  • The Electrical Contractors' Association (ECA)
  • The Heating and Ventilating Contractors' Association (HVCA)
  • The Electrical Contractors Association of Scotland (SELECT)
