Extension of scheme to include staff (not just JIB operatives) personally engaged in construction operations.
There are two ways to include staff in the JIB Combined Benefits Credit Scheme.
- The JIB extends the facility to include categories of non-graded non-electrical employees, who are over the age of 18 in these schemes provided 100% of such employees are included. The facility to benefits ceases immediately upon termination of employment with that employer. This would mean that the staff member would receive the same range of benefits as JIB operatives and that the employer and employee would both enjoy the benefits of dispensation on holiday pay.
- For employers who participate in the JIB Scheme and who wish to fully utilise the national insurance dispensation for their staff (not just operatives) personally engaged in construction operations, this can be achieved by making regular monthly payments through the "top-up" section on the normal four weekly returns for JIB operatives. Sufficient funds would need to be calculated for the holiday accrual and deposited on a regular monthly basis in order to earn the national insurance dispensation. Employers would be able to redeem the first three months deposits after the fourth month''s deposit has been lodged.
