About the ECA

Founded over 100 years ago, the Electrical Contractors' Association (ECA) is the UK's largest and leading trade association representing electrical, electronic, installation engineering and building services companies throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The interests of equivalent companies in Scotland are served by a similar body, SELECT.

The Association works closely with key government and national bodies to improve industry standards and procedures. Its comprehensive, progressive and innovative services are highly respected and renowned throughout the industry.

ECA membership

The Association has over 2,700 member companies – ranging from local employers to national multi-service organisations. The ECA's members employ over 30,000 people and support more than 9,000 apprentices with their training. Members dominate the electrical sector of the UK’s construction industry with a collective annual turnover approaching £5 billion.

The ECA's membership base encompasses not just installers but manufacturers, distributors and end users, too. The Association is dedicated to maintaining and improving industry standards by discussion and representation, and its dedication to best practice and efficient, effective and safe working procedures ensures members deliver the very best service across a broad spectrum of commissions.

Additionally, the ECA has a number of subsidiary companies involved in such areas as insurance, property management, quality assurance and training to support and assist members' activities and interests.
