The ECA IT, Electronics and Control Systems
Specialist sectors and new technologies
Many ECA members specialise in, or have extended their range of capabilities to include, specialist ITEC sectors. These members belong to ECA ITEC and receive specialist support services from the Association for this activity to help ensure their work will be completed in compliance with the relevant Standards, regulations and codes of practice.
The promise and performance of systems technologies, which are growing at a rapid pace, means that much of their operational value is dependent upon the knowledge and expertise of the installer. Members of ECA ITEC specialise in information technology, electronics installation and instrumentation. They are also supported by specialist services from the ECA to help ensure high customer service standards.
ITEC is an acronym for Information Technology, Electronics, Control and Instrumentation whose scope is as follows:
Information Technology: covers data networks, computer installations, telecommunications and fibre optic systems together with radio and microwave networks.
Electronics: covers all building services control systems (environmental, alarm and access control) and other specialist types of work such as multimedia and audio visual systems.
Control and Instrumentation: covers all aspects of automation and control systems incorporating intelligent sensors, actuators, plant, machinery, sequence controllers, event controllers, system connection, programming and monitor.
