What you can expect
All ECA members have at least one year’s experience of electrical contracting, and have undergone rigorous inspection of their work and business procedures to ensure technical competence and business ability.
All members’ installation work must comply with the latest Wiring Regulations laid down by the British Standards Institution (BSI) and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), or other relevant Building Regulations, British Standards and the ECA Code of Fair Trading.
The Association requires a periodic technical assessment of members where relevant, against the criteria set out in the Electrotechnical Assessment Scheme (EAS). Each member assessed by the ECA receives a certificate for each category of work in which it has met the requirements of the technical assessment process. The certificates are available for inspection by clients and provides confirmation of the contractors’ technical abilities.
