Joining up the industry

The 2008 conference was held in Marbella, Spain this year. Video footage of the conference is available.

The business programme this year included a range of presentations by leading industry and external specialists, including featured speaker Richard Reeve, below. In addition, lively workshop sessions to consider current industry practices and evaluate new initiatives provided the opportunity to exchange ideas and develop practical working relationships.

2008 programme overview

The conference agenda promoted the need for all industry sectors to work together on:

• closing the skills gap
• providing sustainability solutions
• introducing new technologies into craft training
• coordinated industry lobbying
• meeting change by thinking differently about partnership
• re-evaluating modern working life and more.

The official opening of the conference included the inauguration of the new ECA President and Office Holders for 2008/09. Some serious networking opportunities and a fabulous social programme, including a Gala Dinner, made this the event of 2008.

Speaker in focus: Richard Reeves One of the conference’s featured speakers is Richard Reeves, European Business Speaker of the year 2007. A leading expert on workplace trends, Richard is a high-profile writer, top commentator and is a regular on showcase radio and TV programmes. He is also the author of the highly-publicised book Happy Mondays: Putting the Pleasure Back into Work. Richard will present an entertaining re-evaluation of modern working life at the 2008 conference – certain to be of interest to delegates and partners alike.
