5 reasons why you should attend Smart Tech Live 2017

When the work is pouring in and your diary is packed, it becomes more and more difficult to dedicate any time to learning new skills and preparing your business for the future. What you need is an event that combines the two!

Held in association with the ECA, the goal of Smart Tech Live is to inform and educate aspirational electrotechnicians about smart, connected, and innovative technologies that will help them offer their clients more in an evolving industry.

Following on from the success of last year’s inaugural seminar, there will be two Smart Tech Live events in 2017. The first will be held in London at The Grand Connaught Rooms on Friday 9th June. The second will be held at The Principal York in York on Thursday 15th June.

If you are still unsure whether to register, here are 5 reasons why a day spent at Smart Tech Live 2017 will be worth your while:

  1. Train to gain

In a rapidly changing, competitive industry, only the businesses that stay on top of the latest technological developments will come out on top.

New to this year’s programme, Smart Tech Live will be opening its doors an hour early to host a series of pre-show CPD-accredited seminars. Presented by the likes of ABB, Legrand and Schneider Electric, these sessions will cover the latest smart home and building automation innovations. Attendees will learn about the specific benefits of these new solutions and how they can begin adding them to their service offering.

  1. Join the debate

This year’s programme includes two panel discussions where technical experts from leading industry associations and manufacturers will share their thoughts on the ‘smart’ future of the electrotechnical sector.

The first panel, hosted by Voltimum, will explore the question: What is a Smart Solution? Panellists will debate what the word ‘smart’ actually means and why some solutions are more intelligent than others.

The second panel discussion will be led by the ECA and will focus in on the business opportunities that smart solutions can offer. The panel will hone in on the valuable applications where smart technology can be utilised and consider the various ways installers can diversify their business offering.

Both sessions will include a Q&A session where attendees will have the opportunity to contribute to the discussion.

  1. Smart Seminars

If you are looking for inspiration, the seminar programme will provide a feast of ideas on how you can incorporate smart solutions into your business.

Legrand will outline the unique benefits that smart technology can provide to assisted living installations. Using controls and automation to help empower the independence and comfort of vulnerable people around the home.

ABB will focus on residential installations. Using the brand’s ABB-free@home system as an example, the seminar will cover the key factors an installer should take into consideration when approaching a smart home installation.

Schneider Electric will then look at the time and cost saving benefits smart solutions that are being developed to help facilities managers control and monitor equipment remotely.

The final seminar will look ahead to the release of the 18th Edition to BS 7671 and consider, in an increasingly regulated world, what other standards and regulations will become important as smart homes and building automation become commonplace?

  1. Any burning questions?

If you have any questions that you need to ask about smart homes and building automation, there will be opportunities to quiz our panellists and speakers throughout the day.

There will also be stands from manufacturers like Legrand, ABB, Schneider Electric and LEDVANCE, where representatives will be able to answer any questions you have about smart products and how you could utilise them in your future projects.

  1. Take a break…

If the opportunity to learn about new technology and improve your business doesn’t sell it for you, coffee and tea will be available throughout the day and attendees will also be treated to lunch – providing several opportunities to network and discuss ideas with like-minded colleagues.

The event is free for ECA members and associates.
