Alan Reynolds, Business Development Director, BEMCO

Influencing Procurement Through Cross Industry Communication

In the third presentation of the conference's first day, Alan Reynolds of BEMCO called for the development of increased understanding and appreciation between the sectors.

Working together with an inclusive approach, he argued, would help improve service levels and efficiencies, creating a more professional supply chain that would add value across the industry.

An impartial view

Prior to the conference, Alan had spoken to a range of contractors, distributors and manufacturers about their perceptions of each other. This allowed him to present an impartial view of how the industry operates.

“This snapshot demonstrated the need to improve understanding through communication for the benefit of all industry sectors,” he said.

The challenge ahead

The challenge ahead now is to meet the demands of a strong market by offering quality service and added value. “Top class service driven by good relationships must be the norm,” Alan said.

“Offering this at all levels of the supply chain will enable us to charge for the service provided and shift the focus from price to service.”
