Identifying The Characteristics Of Technology Change
This joint presentation by two leading manufacturers – Trevor McCabe of Schneider Electric and Gary Haynes of Thorn Lighting – clearly demonstrated the benefits of partnering, as well as the way in which internal and external forces are rapidly changing the electrical industry.
Looking at Project Allenby/Connaught
In an informative case study, the speakers discussed Project Allenby/Connaught (Aspire Defence): the largest PFI project in the UK to date.
Some of the principal drivers of this project – including a number of inhibitors – demanded a real change in thinking and approach. An integrated project team comprised of manufacturers, contractors and distributors – each with a shared commitment to the client – heralded a new approach to project delivery.
“The solution to the various challenges created by this project was the development of a collaborative structure with manufacturers working together, negating any design risk by adapting common tools and philosophies and by adopting common manufacturing disciplines to the construction and ‘off-site’ industries,” Trevor stated.
Impressive outcome
The improvement in trust and integrity within the total supply chain illustrated in this case study contributed to project Allenby/Connaught becoming a double award-winning project with particular recognition for its integrated delivery concept.
