Michalis Hatzimarkos, Member of the Board of the Panhellenic Federation of Electrical Contractors Association (POSEH)

The Olympic Challenge – A Greek Perspective

In a translated presentation Mr Hatzimarkos, an electrical contractor based in Rhodes, welcomed delegates to the island and conveyed best wishes for a successful conference on behalf of the President of Athens-based POSEH, Mr Stathis Daras.

Mr Hatzimarkos said, “As you all know, Athens is proud of the successful organisation of the 2004 Olympic Games. I wish you the same and even greater success in London 2012. For installation engineers in particular, I wish them safe, successful and profitable results from their participation in the Games.

Requirements for a successful Games

“My colleagues in Athens would like me to stress that great vigilance, financial transparency and flexibility are required. Additional materials and professional staff are required and 24-hour call to cover matters of urgency.

“Furthermore, great power surges are needed and the presence of thousands of people demands full-scale preparation and contingency planning. Other than that, the 2012 Olympic Games is a great project, that should not intimidate any professional.”
