The UKAS-accredited ECA Membership Certification Scheme is the Association’s own scheme. It has been devised to give participating Registered Members a clear commercial advantage in an increasingly competitive and demanding marketplace.
The Scheme is administered on behalf of the ECA by ECA Certification and involves regular technical assessments or ‘Monitoring Assessments’ to ensure that Registered Members carry out safe electrical work, installed to recognised industry standards and practice. When a member’s work has been successfully assessed, they receive a UKAS-endorsed Technical Assessment Certificate, confirming that they have met the requirements of the Scheme.
Businesses joining the ECA under the Scheme receive their first assessment or ‘Initial Assessment’ free of charge.
If you are preparing for your Initial or Monitoring Assessment, please download the ‘Guide to ECA Membership Certification Scheme’.
For more information about the costs associated with the Scheme, please download the Scheme’s Schedule of Fees.
If you are applying for Registered Membership and would like to participate in the ECA Scheme, please also download ECA Certification’s Terms & Conditions and their Complaints & Appeals Procedure.
Please note that if at any time you indicate that you carry out domestic work, your business must be registered with any one of the Government-approved Full Scope Competent Person Schemes for Part P of the Building Regulations.
The benchmark used by the Association for demonstrating competence is the Electrotechnical Assessment Specification (EAS), maintained and published by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
If you would like to apply to participate in the ECA Membership Certification Scheme please contact your local Regional Manager.
