ECA's Industry Research Project - 'INCENTIVES AND BARRIERS TO TRAINING IN THE ELECTROTECHNICAL INDUSTRY'
Background
In early 2007, ECA Education and Training commissioned studies by the Institute for Employment Studies (IES) around the issue of training amongst companies within the electrical contracting industry.
The project surveyed the views of ECA members' and those within the wider electrotechnical industry on the training and qualification of individual entering and those already working within, the industry.
Findings
The report, which is entitled 'Incentives and Barriers to Training in the Electrotechnical Industry' has now been published (November 2007).

- View the Appendices (1.67mb)
- Joint Major Contractors Group (JMCG) report (1.44mb) This report deals exclusively with the views and findings of the Joint Major Contractors Group, whose responses were analysed separately.
Debate
A Media Round Table was held in March this year, where key industry representatives debated some topics raised by the research, and the debate was covered by Building Magazine. The resulting article will feature on this page as soon as it is published.
The implications and conclusions drawn from this important piece of research are currently being analysed and will shortly be summarised here. We would like to thank all those who participated in the survey, the aim of which is to help the ECA to develop policies that will help make training more accessible to employers in the sector.
