Fast-track to ECA Membership

Contracting firms undertaking commercial and industrial work activities for their clients would benefit from being recognised for their competence within this specific area of work. The ECA sets industry recognised criteria for membership which involves regular assessment or submission of evidence to ensure compliance is met.

Qualifying firms as part of membership also receive access to a number of technical, business and industry guidance and support, as well as unrivalled access to free of charge, ECA branded model certificates.

The ECA membership scheme, unlike Part P Competent Person Schemes, recognises that a Members’ work may be in any field, and will not necessarily be confined to dwellings.

Consequently a suitable assessment program will be established and delivered as a necessary route to gain and maintain membership.

This will enable even specialist fields of work in Commercial and Industrial fields to be recognised towards membership.

Typically, these additional specialist assessments may include but not be limited to - fire alarms, emergency lighting, security systems, controls, panel building, A/V, datacoms, etc

Where a company is already a member of an equivalent, qualifying scheme, such as the NICEIC Approved Contractor scheme, the ECA recognises membership may be granted on a ‘deemed to satisfy’ basis – thereby avoiding the need for a separate ECA assessment.

Full details of these routes on a case by case basis may be discussed with the ECA Member Services Department.

Additionally, where domestic ‘notifiable’ electrical work is undertaken by a Member, a route exists to offer membership of a Part P Competent Person scheme such as Elecsa, via a single combined assessment that also satisfies ECA membership criteria.

Again, Member Services Department can advise on a case by case basis.
