    Build Networks (EAST) has developed a series of FREE one-day workshops to assist small and medium-sized businesses operating in the built environment sector in the East of England. Eligible firms can attend up to 2 of these workshops free of charge*, subject to availability.

    ECA helps industry journalist conserve the Amazon

    Journalist Frankie Snobel was used to writing features about green technology and Part L, but wanted to get involved even deeper in the global challenge to combat carbon. With the support of many key electrical industry sponsors, including the ECA, Frankie headed to the Manu Biosphere Reserve in the Peruvian Amazon to work as a rainforest conservation volunteer.

    The theft of metal products from building sites and commercial premises is of great concern to the Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA). The increase in theft has occurred due to the current high price of metals, particularly copper and the increase in crime due to the recession.

    UK companies certified to the leading international environmental management standard ISO 14001 will need to consider not just strategic risks, but also opportunities, under ambitious plans to overhaul the Standard. ISO 14001 is by far the most popular environmental management standard, with more than 250,000 certifications in 155 countries, including 11,000 in the UK. Many construction companies find it useful for pre-tendering, since it is so widely recognised.
