Apprenticeship FAQs

There are so many apprenticeship routes to take, which is the most appropriate?

The 4 year electrical installation/maintenance apprenticeship is the most appropriate route for those seeking to become an electrician. The AM2 end assessment is part of this apprenticeship and achievement of this apprenticeship leads to an ECS Gold Card.

Taking on an apprentice is expensive, is there any help available?

The government offers support to companies that take on apprenticeships within the electrotechnical industry. However, the funding system within England is being overhauled and an apprenticeship levy will be introduced from April 2017.

Fore more details on the support from government and the changes to apprenticeship funding, please go to our 'Funding' page in the Education and Skills section.
