Trailblazer Activity

New Employer Led Apprenticeship Standards

A key component of the changes to the apprenticeship system is the replacement of apprenticeship frameworks with employer designed apprenticeship standards.

The early standards were developed under the government’s “Trailblazer” programme. The electrotechnical level 3 apprenticeship was one of the first to be redeveloped as an apprenticeship standard.

The standard and its assessment plan can be viewed on the government website (Please see useful links section – Apprenticeship Standards).

Additionally, the ECA has been key in the development of the new Fire, Security and Emergency systems standard, which has been developed by employers.
