Controls

Good controls are essential for the safe and efficient operation of a modern building. The complexity of these systems may vary but whatever the size and structure, it is important they are well designed, installed commissioned and maintained to maximise efficiency, comfort and energy conversation.

This section gives advice on applying the right technical standards, latest news and updates to ensure you’re fully equipped to understand the complexities when installing these systems.

Building controls and automation play a key role in making buildings functional, safe, comfortable and above all efficient. To achieve this, most commercial buildings incorporate Building Management Systems (BMS) that monitor control and integrate the buildings mechanical and electrical services and equipment such as heating ventilation, lighting, power systems, fire systems and security systems.

We refer to Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS) when regulating and monitoring energy related building services, plant and equipment such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and even lighting. The complexity of these systems may vary but whatever the size and structure, well designed, installed and commissioned systems would maximise energy conversation and reduce harmful emissions.
