ECS Health, Safety and Environmental Assessments

ECS Health, Safety & Environmental Assessments are available onlineAlternatively tests can be undertaken at a test centre, via ECA, which is authorised to provide these assessments throughout England, Wales & Northern Ireland. Reciprocal arrangements apply in Scotland.

To book an assessment at a test centre, please call the ECA Administration team on 01582 531 047 or email ecsadministration@ecseca.co.uk

ECA provides this service on behalf of the JIB and all assessments booked though ECA can be paid for by credit or debit card and will appear on your statement as 'ECA online banking'.

Those who successfully pass the ECS assessment will be awarded a certificate which can be used to obtain an ECS card within two years of passing the assessment.

To hold an ECS Card, you must pass this assessment (or have valid exemption). The ECS Health, Safety & Environmental assessment is specifically designed to meet the basic requirements of electrotechnical personnel.

For further information on any other bookings or centres, please visit www.ecscard.org.uk

The majority of UK construction sites will require onsite workers and site visitors to have achieved an appropriate level of health and safety knowledge before they are permitted to enter construction areas. Due to this requirement, the ECS card scheme requires all those applying for cards to hold or obtain a minimum level of health and safety knowledge.

The ECS H&S assessment is required by all candidates applying for an ECS card who do not have an exemption to the test. A list of the exemptions is available on this page.

If you are unsure about your eligibility for an ECS card and which H&S assessment you should undertake, please visit the ECS card website, www.ecscard.org.uk. No responsibility can be accepted for candidates who book and undertake the wrong test and no refund will be given in such circumstances.

Bookings to take the ECS Health and Safety (H&S) Assessment can be made by an individual or by a business on behalf of multiple employees.

Tests can be taken online via your MyECS account or at a test centre - please telephone 01582 531 047 or email administration@ecscard.org.uk to book.
