How to enter

Entry forms

To enter, please complete and upload the forms below which include references from the employer (the ECA member) and a personal statement from the candidate.  Also, as part of the entry process, the candidate's training centre or college will also need to provide a statement of recommendation.

Video submission

This year we are also asking applicants to produce an OPTIONAL short video, ideally of between 2 or 3 minutes, but as long or short as you want. This can simply be recorded on a smartphone or tablet. Feel free to be off-the-wall and as creative as you want. You may also want to include a few work colleagues, family members or friends. It’s entirely up to you.

However, we would like the entrant to cover the following areas:

  • About you! Tell us a bit about yourself. Perhaps an interesting or funny fact.
  • Why did you decide to join the electrotechnical industry? What were you doing prior to your apprenticeship?
  • What is the single best thing that you have learnt during your apprenticeship?
  • What do you want to have achieved in 10 years time in your career?
  • Why do you think you would make an excellent ambassador for our industry?

Entry rules

Please read through the entry rules thoroughly before starting the application process. All applicants agree to abide by the competition rules of the ECA Edmundson Electrical Awards.

  1.  The ECA Edmundson Electrical Awards 2017 are promoted by The Electrical Contractors’ Association, Lincoln House, 137-143 Hammersmith Road, London, W14 0QL.

  2. The awards are open to all ECA member contractors only.

  3. Candidates must have passed their AM2 since 1 January 2016 and completed their apprenticeship.

  4. The application should be completed online, including a video and references from the candidate’s trainer and employer.

  5. Any false information will lead to disqualification.

  6. Past winners and finalists of the awards are not eligible to reapply.

  7. If candidates have ceased employment with the applicant company during the course of the competition, they will be disqualified.

  8. If an ECA member company is put on the market for sale or goes into administration during the year of the awards, it is ineligible to participate in that year’s awards.

  9. An independent judging panel will draw up a shortlist for interview based on the quality of the candidates’ applications.

  10. The finalists selected by the judges at interview will be invited to The Edmundson Electrical Awards ceremony and the overall winner will be announced at that event.

  11. If the judges cannot select candidates deemed to be of suitable calibre, no awards will be made.

  12. The decision of the judges is final.

  13. Publicity for the awards will be organised by Edmundson Electrical in partnership with the ECA and any press release embargoes set by Edmundson Electrical and the ECA (or their public relations agency, if applicable) must be adhered to by all participating businesses, winners and candidates.

  14. Winners will be required to attend and participate in publicity and promotional events and to speak on behalf of their employers, the ECA, Edmundson Electrical and the industry.
