Site Operating Procedures updated
15 April 2020
A new version of the Site Operating Procedures (SOP) has just been published.
The third and latest version of the SOP takes in the recent guidelines provided by Public Health England in particular, which covered construction and transport issues.
Notably, PHE guidance for construction states “Where it is not possible to follow the social distancing guidelines in full in relation to a particular activity, you should consider whether that activity needs to continue for the site to continue to operate, and, if so, take all the mitigating actions possible to reduce the risk of transmission.”
Request for input on practical site measures
The SOP is a high-level, industry wide, document, and more work is needed to create engineering services (and other sector-specific) information on site coronavirus-related risk reduction measures, notably for closer proximity work.
Please contact email@example.com if you would like to be involved regarding the production of guidance on suitable risk reduction measures in our sector (with the BESA) or if you would like to comment on the SOP. ECA is a member of the CLC working group dealing with the SOP and we will pass on prevalent Member comments as we receive them.
We are particularly keen to hear from health and safety and other operational managers who can offer solutions-based (or other practical) input, based on current site experience. Please do get in touch (above) if you can contribute to practical guidance on risk control measures in our sector.
