BEIS sets up carbon capture team
20 November 2020
The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) is forming a new team to manage an £800 million investment programme in carbon capture, usage and storage (CCUS) technology.
CCUS technology is essential for the decarbonisation of ‘hard-to-decarbonise’ sectors, such as the construction products manufacturing sector.
A statement from BEIS said the new directorate will be a “multi-disciplinary cross-government team comprising colleagues from BEIS and the Infrastructure Projects Authority,” and will help develop a “new form of economic regulation for CO2 transport and storage networks.”
