Furlough extended further

Chancellor Rishi Sunak has announced the extension of the furlough scheme to the end of March 2021. The scheme, which applies throughout the UK, will pay up to 80 per cent of a person's wage up to £2,500 a month.

Support through the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS) will be increased, with the third grant covering November to January calculated at 80 per cent of average trading profits, up to a maximum of £7,500.

The Chancellor said, "The security we are providing will protect millions of jobs," adding that the scheme should “give businesses security through the winter."
