Consultation opens on principal contractor competence

A new consultation has been opened on PAS 8672, the publicly available specification for the competence of principal contractors.

The PAS sets out a framework for competence of individual principal contractors and designated individuals working under organisational principal contractors.

The consultation follows a series of changes to the Building Safety Bill, put forward in the wake of the Grenfell Tower fire.

Pete Dawber, industry lead for the PAS, said to Construction Manager: “Given the impact this PAS will have on the role of construction managers, it is important the industry exploits this opportunity to engage with this work, and I would encourage all organisations to provide feedback, their views will inform and shape the future of this PAS and will have a positive impact on building safety.”

The consultation is open until 10 November. To read the draft specification and comment, click here.
