Van Driver Toolkit reaches 800,000 users

Just over a year ago the National Highways’ Driving for Better Business launched the Van Driver Toolkit. In that year, over 800,000 van drivers have taken advantage of this easy-to-use modular course.

The free toolkit was developed by the National Highways as part of the Driving for Better Business programme. To keep drivers safe and vans legal, the course will cut through the myths about driving vans on our roads.

“With an increase of roadside stops for vans and the average fine per offence in the region of £972, it doesn’t take long for van drivers and owners to figure out the vans which don’t comply with the rules”. National Highways

To mark a year in existence, the free course has added brand new modules. The three new modules cover recent changes to the Highway Code, safe loading to prevent vans toppling, loads moving in transit and safe access to loads.

If you are an employer, did you know the driving a vehicle for work falls into the Health and Safety at Work responsibilities? All the modules on the course will help to reduce costs, improve operating conditions, ensure safe and legal vehicles and promote wellbeing for drivers.

Fleet operators and anyone who employs van drivers in their business can access the course and share online, via email or as printed cards, as well as through eight very accessible Toolbox Talks.
