Joining the Net Zero installers

John Coleman, Director of Chalfont Electrical Services Ltd. comments on the adaptations they are considering a move toward renewable technologies.

“It seems the right way to go,” says John Coleman, Director of Chalfont Electrical Services Ltd. “We were really impressed with Luke Osborne’s talk ‘The Rise of the Energy Prosumer’ that we saw last year. It made us seriously consider moving our contracting skills further into renewable technologies.”

Already this year, John has electrified his whole fleet and has had a further meeting with Luke, ECA’s Emerging Technology and Renewable Energy Advisor, to discuss the process for adding to the company’s renewable energy skillset. “For the training, our guys, including myself, have already attended courses and gained qualifications in energy assessments, Solar PV, and battery storage,” said John. “We plan for more to join courses throughout 2022. We’re also working in partnership with Orluna lighting to introduce recycling lighting on projects, where we have been specifying their products over the last decade.

“We’re OZEV registered which means we’re on the national list of authorised EV installers,” continued John. “Soon we’ll be in the right place to look at MCS Accreditation, and PAS2030 or PAS2035.

“Plans are also underway to build a new company website to illustrate our skills in this area,” said John. “It’s exciting times for us and it certainly seems that consumer demand is there.”
