Following the introduction of BS7671:2018, there will be a transition period until 1 January 2019 where both the 17th and 18th Edition of the Wiring Regulations qualification will be accepted for an ECS Registered Electrician application.

Plans are underway to incorporate the forthcoming 18th Edition of the IET Wiring Regulations into the Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, to allow ECS cardholders to demonstrate their continuing professional development.
