Domestic Electrical Work - A summary
The ECA domestic installations scheme, is fundamentally similar to our normal BS 7671 Membership scheme, but recognises that for some companies, an all embracing assessment covering all aspects of BS 7671, particularly those topics usually associated with commercial and industrial installations may be inappropriate.
The domestic installations scheme is thus tailored to suit the needs of the member working predominantly within dwellings, with the Technical Certificate awarded upon membership being granted reflecting this. Membership of this scheme would not however preclude a company from working on other types of installations.
The scheme has a wide choice of specific qualification routes, which reflect the usual qualifications and awards that have been provided by various training organisations over the years.
The assessment itself is naturally geared to work in dwellings, with the expectation of being able to see associated completed work, and /or projects in process.
Where a member or potential member is likely to undertake Notifiable Work under Part P, the ECA assessment can, by prior arrangement, include the assessment criteria for Elecsa membership.
