ECS Registered Electrician Status
The JIB has introduced a new Registered Electrician status for electricians who hold ECS cards in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Operated via the ECS card scheme, the new status is available to all ECS Installation and Maintenance cardholders who are qualified in the current (17th) edition of BS7671.
If you employ ECS gold card electricians, the ECS Registered Electrician allows you to demonstrate to clients that your electrical staff are, and are prepared to remain, up-to-date with the latest industry technology developments and the Wiring Regulations.
What criteria has to be met?
To become an ECS Registered Electrician, an employee must:
1) Meet the ECS gold card requirements for Installation or Maintenance Electrician
2) Hold the current edition of the Wiring Regulations (BS7671, 17th Edition)
3) Agree to a Code of Professional Practice – this is a short document that include rules on working professionally and responsibly, that you must agree to before you can sign up
4) Agree to keep up to date with professional development, including the Wiring Regulations
