Area of work:

This Region stretches from mid-Somerset to Hereford, taking in the Cities of Bristol & Bath, also northwards to Cheltenham & Gloucester, west to the Forest of Dean, and as far up as Herefordshire. A high proportion of the membership in the West Region engage fully in the ECA local activities on offer and operate through the two Branches , these being Bristol & Bath Branch and Gloucester & District - which work together as one.

This Branch ‘group’ (effectively covering the whole West Region) holds several meetings per annum - where local issues are discussed and, more often than not, relevant ‘CPD’ presentations are held. The Members find these meetings most useful and the West Regional Manager (Matthew McKaig) works closely with the central Regional Executive Committee to ensure that these events are streamlined, value-adding - also providing some ‘community’ for Members spread over a wide geographical area. In addition there is an annual Regional event, which, last year (2018) was rounded off with a ‘Day at the Races’ at Bath Racecourse in November – so the West Region is alive and kicking!

In addition to the considerable benefits also enjoyed by Members of ECA in the West Region, they can also avail themselves of a generous training grant which is available to the Members based in this area.

- Matthew McKaig, West and South West Regional Manager
