SES Engineering Services were contracted to design & build one of Manchester’s first NABERS UK rated net zero carbon in operation buildings: a 22,000sqm office development at 4 Angel Square, NOMA, in Manchester.
Once complete in January 2023, the 10-floor building is set to exceed the environmental and performance standards set out in the British Council for Office Best Practice Specifications. The all-electric building will use no on-site fossil fuels and will generate on-site renewable power using photovoltaics.
MEP services solutions include air source heat pumps, intelligent lighting and low energy ventilation. The building is considered Smart and uses a converged network to connect the MEP solution and intelligent technologies to a Smart Buildings workplace application.
Importantly, sustainability, health & wellbeing, occupant experience, flexibility and long-term asset value are also optimised; this is demonstrated through the BREEAM Outstanding, Fitwel 2 Star and Wired Score Platinum performance targets.
