Have your say on protective earthing of electrical installations consultation

The British Standards Institution (BSI) has published a draft for public comment (DPC) on BS 7430 Protective earthing of electrical installations – Code of practice.

BS 7430 provides recommendations for earthing of electrical installations, including:

• protective earthing of low voltage (LV) installations to BS 7671;
   
• the interface between LV and high voltage (HV) substations conforming to BS EN IEC 61936-1:2021 within buildings;
   
• protective earthing arrangements for generators running in parallel with a distribution network operator (DNO) or a private HV/LV transformer supplying low voltage installations;
   
• protective earthing and changeover switch arrangements for UPS and generators supplying low voltage installations; and
   
• AC supplies derived from DC supplies, e.g. solar, batteries, wind.
