ECA urges Government to uphold £13.2bn Warm Homes manifesto commitment

ECA (Electrical Contractors’ Association) is among more than 50 signatories in a business letter urging the Government to ensure it upholds its 2024 Warm Homes Plan manifesto commitment, or risk losing 3,000 skilled roles needed to transition the UK to net zero.

The letter to Darren Jones MP, Chief Secretary; Rachel Reeves MP, Chancellor; and Ed Miliband Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero; states if the June Spending review limits the investment allocated in last year’s Autumn, the UK will not be able to meet its target of being at zero carbon emissions by 2050 because the nation will not have the skilled workforce it needs, including electricians, to get there.

If the Government stays with its original manifesto commitment, it will add 12,000 new skilled roles to the workforce in this Parliament.
