New cyber security toolkit for small businesses

In October 2025, the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) introduced a new, free Cyber Action Toolkit to help small businesses to strengthen cyber security. The toolkit provides clear, bite-sized actions designed to protect a business’s money and reputation from cyber criminals.

The 2025 Cyber Security Breaches Survey identified that one in two UK small businesses identified a cyber attack and around one in four UK small businesses experienced a cyber crime last year. ECA recommends that all its Members who are small businesses make use of the Cyber Action Toolkit.

The NCSC also offers a Cyber Essentials Readiness Tool. This tool consists of questions designed to help businesses think about cyber security within their organisation. The responses a business provides will help inform a personal action plan that will help them move towards meeting the Cyber Essentials requirements.

ECA is here to support Members with the threat of cyber security. Visit our webpage with guidance and advice for both small and large businesses here
