Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA) is reminding its Members that the traditional landline network, known as the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), will be switched off on 31 January 2027.
Across the UK Openreach is migrating the network to be fibre-based.
Openreach will also be launching an Emergency Voice product at the end of January, to give a safety net for lines that are still connected. This will be voice only and availability will be dependent on BT’s capacity at that exchange, so is not guaranteed.
The Openreach Digital Services Test Lab continues to offer test facilities on fibre-based technology to hardware providers on six Communications Providers’ equipment (Sky, TalkTalk, BT Consumer, BT Business, Zen and Vodafone) to help you make informed decisions when migrating devices in the premises to digital lines.
