New Workplace Mental Health First Aid Standards expected in September 2026

The first ever Workplace Mental Health First Aid Standards are currently being developed by Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) England and the Association of Mental Health First Aiders.

The standards are designed to provide employers with a clear framework for implementing and managing MHFA arrangements within their organisations. The draft standards are currently in development, with a public launch expected in September 2026.

Once the standards are released, the Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA) will review the standards and provide Members with a practical overview of the key themes, potential implications for employers and any relevant considerations for the electrotechnical and engineering services sector.

In the meantime, Members are encouraged to review their existing workplace wellbeing policies and MHFA arrangements to ensure appropriate support remains available to their workforce and that current practices continue to meet organisational needs.

Further updates and guidance will be shared with Members once the standards have been officially released.

ECA continues to support Members in promoting positive mental health and wellbeing across their businesses. A range of resources, guidance and signposting to additional support services is available through ECA’s dedicated mental health webpages. Members can also access discounted Mental Health First Aid training courses delivered by ECA. Find out more here
