Could you help shape Government policy?

Part of the ‘behind the scenes’ work at ECA is responding to Government consultations. For me, that involves responding to consultations on energy and emerging technologies. With the push for Net Zero Carbon by 2050, this is a very active area.

It is important all consultations reflect the views of our Members. We regularly ask for feedback to help shape our responses and provide a balanced view of the industry. You may have seen the requests in ECAtoday online or the Source newsletter.   Many Members also talk directly to Regional Managers.

Over the past 12 months I have responded to five consultations on behalf of ECA Members.  The list includes:

We are fortunate to have the expertise of the new Zero Carbon Group (ZCG), previously called the Energy Efficiency and Climate Change Group, to draw on. The ZCG is a network of ECA businesses with expertise in delivering new technologies.

We use all the knowledge gained from our Members to help influence policy in other arenas. I represent ECA on Government Working Groups on energy and emerging technologies, for example the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy’s Electrification of Heating Task force.

Could you provide insights or experiences to help me compile the ECA response to the ‘Future Homes Standard and proposed uplift to the Building regulations parts L & F’?  I would welcome feedback from ECA Members on all, or any part of, this consultation.

Full details of the consultation and guidance can be found here and here

Please send your response to me, at luke.osborne@eca.co.uk, by 6th April 2021. All feedback is greatly appreciated.
