The ECA Edmundson Apprentice of the Year Award 2026 put exceptional apprentices – and the businesses behind them – firmly in the spotlight.
Do you have an apprentice whose attitude, progress and dedication genuinely make you proud? Someone who consistently goes above and beyond — not because they have to, but because they care about their work and the future of the industry?
This would be the perfect opportunity to celebrate them by encouraging them to enter the ECA Edmundson Apprentice of the Year Award 2026.
What are the ECA Edmundson Award 2026?
Established in 1975, the ECA Edmundson Award is widely recognised as being one of the premier training awards across the electrotechnical and engineering services industry. The award aims to recognise outstanding electrical apprentices who not only have good technical skills but are role models for others in the industry.
How can I enter?
It's very simple – all you have to do is fill out the application form at the bottom of this page!
All shortlisted nominees will be contacted to complete a final stage face-to-face interview with our judges. Please ensure your nominee will be available to attend an interview in person at ECA's London office - Rotherwick House.

What are the prizes?
The winners and runners-up of the ECA Edmundson Award 2026 will receive an exciting range of fantastic prizes, with some of them including:
For the winning apprentice:
- A £3,000 cash reward, supporting their ongoing development as the next generation of electrical engineering talent.
- Certificate of commendation
- 2 x VIP tickets to the ECA Awards 2026
For the winning apprentice’s ECA Member employer:
- A one‑year BSI subscription (available to businesses with a turnover below £6.5 million)
- A one‑year Electrical OM Licence, worth over £300
- Increased company profile and press coverage
- 2 x VIP tickets to the ECA Awards 2026
Runner‑up prizes:
- Two runner‑up apprentices will also receive awards
- Their ECA Member employers will each be recognised and awarded alongside them
All shortlisted nominees will be asked to complete a final stage face-to-face interview with our judges. Please ensure your nominee will be available to attend on Tuesday 21 July at ECA's London office - Rotherwick House.

ECA Edmundson Apprentice of the Year Award 2026 form
Please make sure that you have read the competition rules below before you enter your form.
All applicants agree to abide by the competition rules of the ECA Edmundson Electrical Awards.
- The ECA Edmundson Electrical Awards 2026 are promoted by The Electrical Contractors’ Association, Rotherwick House, 3 Thomas More Street, London, E1W 1YZ.
- The Awards are open to all ECA Members businesses only with apprentices of an electrical discipline only.
- Candidates must have passed their AM2/AM2S since 1st April 2025 and completed their electrical apprenticeship.
- The application should be completed online.
- Any false information will lead to disqualification.
- Past winners of the Awards are not eligible to reapply.
- If candidates have ceased employment with the applicant business during the course of the competition, they will be disqualified.
- If an ECA Member business is put on the market for sale or goes into administration during the year of the Awards, it is ineligible to participate in that year’s awards.
- An independent judging panel will draw up a shortlist for interview based on the quality of the candidates’ applications.
- The finalists selected by the judges at interview will be invited to The ECA Edmundson Electrical Awards ceremony and the overall winner will be announced at that event.
- If the judges cannot select candidates deemed to be of suitable calibre, no Awards will be made.
- The decision of the judges is final.
- Publicity for the Awards will be organised by Edmundson Electrical in partnership with ECA and any press release embargoes set by Edmundson Electrical and ECA (or their public relations agency, if applicable) must be adhered to by all participating businesses, winners, and candidates.
- Winners will be required to attend and participate in publicity and promotional events and to speak on behalf of their employers, ECA, Edmundson Electrical and the industry.
- If a winner does anything that may bring the competition, ECA, Edmundson Electrical or the industry into disrepute, the award may be withdrawn at any time at the discretion of ECA and Edmundson Electrical.
- The winner will enjoy promotion by ECA and Edmundson Electrical.
