Chris Jenkins, Design & Innovation Director at ECA (Electrical Contractors’ Association) Member business, RDM Electrical & Mechanical Services, is taking on a new role supporting the construction sector in the transition to net zero.
Chris and RDM have recently been successful in becoming a CO2nstructZero Business Champion. This prestigious title is awarded to companies whose work aligns with one or more of the CO2nstructZero priorities to support the construction sector’s journey to net zero. ECA is proud to support Chris and RDM in this vital role.
An ECA Member since 1991, RDM Electrical and Mechanical Services, part of the wider Raven Delta Group, has been increasingly involved in projects where decarbonisation is prioritised. We were pleased to recognise their commitment to sustainability at last year’s ECA Industry Awards, where RDM won the Best Sustainability Project Award.
CO2nstructZero is the construction industry’s response to the Government’s Ten Point Plan for a Green Industrial Revolution. The initiative outlines nine priorities for reaching net zero, based on the Climate Change Committee’s Sixth Carbon Budget. The initiative also includes a Performance Framework, providing the CLC with a dashboard to track the sector’s progress. Carbon Budget. Commenting on the Award, Jenkins said:
“I am thrilled RDM has become a Construct Zero Business Champion. In the past, the role and expertise of electrical firms has often been overlooked when aiming for net zero goals. This Award recognises those who design, install, and maintain net zero technologies and their role as problem solvers and integrators. They ensure interrelated technologies are safely installed and maintained to meet energy performance outputs”
With A Safe Transition to Net Zero as one of ECA’s policy priorities, it is valuable to see Members like RDM actively getting involved in opportunities to showcase the importance of low carbon in construction and helping to influence the Government’s net zero policy.
Chris Jenkins also serves on ECA’s South Wales Regional Executive Committee (REC) as Deputy Chair.
