HSE publishes 2025 to 2026 Business Plan

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has published its latest Business Plan for 2025-2026.

It details what the HSE will deliver during the fourth year of its Protecting People and Places: HSE strategy for 2022-2032, building on the learnings and progress made so far during the last three years.

The HSE's 10-Year Plan has specific points for electrical contractors, which are:

  1. Focus on Mental Health and Stress: The HSE aims to reduce work-related ill health, particularly stress, depression, and anxiety, which are the most reported causes in Great Britain.

  2. Safety Achievements: The UK has one of the lowest rates of fatal and non-fatal work-related injuries in Europe, thanks to well-established safety standards, but there is still more to do.

  3. Rising Ill Health: Despite progress in safety, work-related ill health is increasing. The HSE plans to address this by focusing resources on effective interventions.

  4. Collaborative Effort: The HSE emphasises the need for wider industry and business involvement to make a significant impact on workers' health, society, and the economy.

  5. Adapting to Change: The HSE will leverage its knowledge and expertise to tackle new health challenges arising from the evolving work environment.

This plan highlights the importance of mental health and the need for collective efforts to improve overall workplace well-being. How do you think this will impact your work as an electrical contractor?
