The Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government is seeking input from individuals and organisations working across the built environment sector to support the development of a new strategy for the built environment professions, trades and occupations. 

A public call for evidence is aimed at anyone involved in designing, building, managing and maintaining buildings and the wider built environment. The government is particularly interest in skills, behaviours and accountability across the sector. 

The Electrotechnical Contractor's Association (ECA) encourages Members to contribute both their individual and organisational perspectives. Responses will help shape a future workforce that is skilled, motivated, responsible and productive, and is equipped to deliver safe, high-performing and sustainable buildings. ECA Members are strongly placed to provide expert insight and help ensure the strategy supports the creation of a safer and more sustainable built environment. 

The call for evidence is open now and will close on Wednesday 12 August 2026. Members wishing to respond can do so via completing the online survey or emailing their responses to the questions.
