Have your say on ECA’s new Governance Framework

Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA) Members are being invited to help shape the organisation’s future governance through during this three-month consultation.

The consultation focuses on ECA’s proposed new Governance Framework, which is a streamlined document designed to make the ECA’s governance clearer, simpler and more effective.

The draft framework brings together a range of existing governance materials, including standing orders, bylaws, committee guidance, codes of conduct and compliance policies, into one practical reference document.
It follows the adoption of updated ECA Rules in 2021 and supports a wider drive to ensure ECA’s governance remains modern, transparent and fit for purpose.

Strong governance helps ECA act decisively, respond to change and deliver lasting value for Members.
The proposed Framework sets out clearer arrangements for Council, the Board, committees, groups, regions, branches, meetings, resolutions, expenses, applications, evidence of technical competence, use of ECA logos and intellectual property, and other key governance processes.

While the Standing Orders and supporting schedules do not require a full membership vote, ECA Council wants Members to be informed, consulted and heard on changes of this importance.

Members are encouraged to review the draft Framework and share any questions, comments, suggested amendments or requests for clarification during the consultation period.

Feedback should be sent to the ECA Secretary at: ECASecretary@eca.co.uk. All responses will be considered before the Framework is presented to Council for a scheduled adoption vote on 16 September 2026.

Members are encouraged to take part, share their views and help ensure ECA’s governance remains clear, effective and ready for the future.
