ECA (Electrical Contractors’ Association) has launched new guidance on the Electrotechnical Assessment Specification (EAS) to support Members in navigating the changes introduced in the latest update published in 2024, that comes into full effect by October 2026.
The EAS is the core industry framework that defines the minimum technical, competence, and safety requirements an electrical enterprise must meet to be recognised by a Certification or Registration Body as competent to carry out electrotechnical work. It applies across the UK and underpins all major electrical certification schemes, including the Certsure/NICEIC scheme.
The EAS ensures consistent competence standards throughout the electrical sector by outlining minimum requirements for contractors and Qualified Supervisors to carry out electrotechnical work.
ECA Members should be aware of the requirements of their business and their employees in accordance with the EAS. The new guidance is presented as a dedicated webpage of clear Q&As, alongside ECA’s dedicated EAS guidance document and details of further information and support, all of which are available here.
