Complete latest Common Assessment Standard section to be work-ready on projects

ECA (Electrical Contractors’ Association) Members must complete the new Building Safety section in the latest Common Assessment Standard, to remain contenders for work.

The latest version of the Standard was published in July. The new Building Safety section is mandatory for Building Regulations-defined building work on all types of buildings. The Act applies to work on all buildings - not just Higher-Risk Buildings - including their erection or extension; renovation, refurbishment or structural alteration; and maintenance, as well as the installation of Safety Critical features and the provision of controlled services or fittings.

All companies that are within scope and working under the Common Assessment Standard certification requirements for their clients, should complete the Building Safety section as applicable to their duty-holder status, otherwise they may find that they are unable to work on projects until they do so.

Companies that have achieved the Common Assessment Standard from any one of the Recognised Assessment Bodies do not need to obtain certification again from any others. Instead, they can agree to share their data at no cost with the other Recognised Assessment Bodies so it is visible to more contractors and clients.
