The Electrotechnical Assessment Specification (EAS) Management Committee has issued an update on acceptable qualifications for EV charging installations under the updated EAS.
The EAS has introduced changes to competence requirements for employed persons and qualified supervisors involved in periodic inspection and testing and the installation of low carbon technologies. ECA has issued guidance on these changes, which came into effect on 1 October 2026 and are expected to affect Members
For businesses carrying out EV charging installations, two further qualifications have been added to the list of acceptable qualifications under the updated EAS:
-
City & Guilds 2919 01 – Level 3 Award in Domestic, Commercial and Industrial Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation (qualification number 600/7756/6).
-
City & Guilds 2919 02 – Level 3 Award in Domestic Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation (qualification number QAN: 600/7374/3).
These qualifications have been introduced with immediate effect as of 9 March 2026.
ECA Members carrying out EV charging installations should be aware that all employed persons undertaking the work, and all qualified supervisors responsible for overseeing the work must hold the relevant acceptable qualifications, which now includes these two additional qualifications. Further information about this, and other EAS related queries can be found on our EAS webpage.
